December was a strange month for me. With the run-up to Christmas and then the new pandemic regulations, I wasn’t really in the mood to read. I’m trying to give myself the space not to read if I just don’t feel like it. But I also know that usually once I pick up a book, I love the act of reading. Sometimes I just struggle with the actual picking up a book and making space and time for reading.
I think another obstacle for me this month, especially towards the middle, was researching my reading challenge for next year. I got very excited about all the books I want to read in 2021 but obviously couldn’t start them just yet.
I am looking forward to another great year of reading next year, with the new challenge and some amazing books which I received for my Birthday and Christmas!
I did manage to read 7 books in December, 2 physical books, 4 eBooks and 1 audiobook:
An American Marriage, by Tayari Jones
The Henna Artist, by Alka Joshi
A Woman is No Man, by Etaf Rum
A Thousand Ships, by Natalie Haynes
Bright Young Dead, by Jessica Fellowes
Postcards From a Stranger, by Imogen Clark
Talking as Fast as I Can, by Lauren Graham
All were great reads, coincidentally I ranked them all 4 stars! If I had to pick a favourite read of the month I think it would have to be The Henna Artist, because I just really loved the audiobook experience of it.
How many books did you read this month? Any new favourites?
Do you have any reading goals for 2021? I started this year with a goal of reading 30 books. Well, thanks to the pandemic, I smashed that target and read 73 books! I am going to set myself the challenge of reading 60 books next year. I am joining the Reading Women Challenge 2021, and maybe a couple of others which have caught my eye!
Happy New Year everyone!! 😊
